Hi Shubham,
I guess you want to license the first cluster with NCI. With the core based licensing of NCI you have 1 TB free capacity available for Files and Objects Storage - if you need more storage for nutanix objects or nutanix file services you can add additional licenses there. Your User VMs can consume as much space as they get from the cluster without any additional license.
on the second cluster I guess you want to purchase a NUS license.
Nutanix Unified Storage can be deployed in two possible ways:
- Mixed Mode: Applications and storage services run on the same cluster. When running in mixed mode, NCI or NCP licenses are needed in addition to NUS licenses.
- Dedicated Mode: Cluster is used only for storage with applications running on external servers. Only NUS licenses are needed when running in dedicated mode.
When running in dedicated mode, a max of 1 user/application VM is allowed per node in the cluster excluding any system VMs (CVM and FSVMs). If more user/application VMs are needed, the cluster must be configured in mixed mode with the appropriate NCI or NCP licenses.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Shubham.jugran, NUS is required only for storage purpose.
The below link provides more information on the license features.

Hi Shubham,
Based on your details, it seems you will use the first 4 nodes (Cluster 1) as your Production Cluster, in which case you can use NCI as your license. You may check the features that you need here: Nutanix Cloud Platform Software Options - NCI and then use the appropriate tier based on those features. (Starter, Pro, or Ultimate)
And then your second cluster (6 nodes), seems to be using HPE DX 4120, which is great to use in File Storage or Object storage. Since you have GPUs in your first cluster, I assume you’d be using the second cluster as repositories for S3 data. Dedicated Mode for NUS will be used for this. NUS Starter should suffice if you don’t plan on using the secondary cluster as file share. Using it as File Share would upgrade your license to NUS Pro.
If you have unpredictable growth in data, maybe you should also consider getting NCM Starter to have that Capacity Based planning capability and help you analyse your storage consumption for both clusters, it might help you to plan ahead if resources will be needed.
Hope this helps!
